Music video editing
This was given to us by our tutor to help us during the editing process as a rough guide on how to use premiere pro to edit our music videos.
Music video - Editing - Premiere Pro from JoyBrett
As seen in this shot, i duplicated the same video clip on top of the other, decreased the opacity of the top image, and changed the tint of the top image to a red colour, while changing the position of the image to be higher up on the screen, and more to the left. For the below image i also decreased the opacity, made the colouring black and white, and shrunk the size of the image. This made this interesting glitch effect which i replicated several times throughout the video, with different variations in colour, opacity, positioning and size of the images. Some of the shots show three images over each other which made the colour more interesting to look at, and gave it a more authentic glitch effect look.

In the above image, you can see the changes in colour made from the original image seen on the left of the screen, and the edited version of the image seen on the right.
Some of the special effects, as seen above are just variations in colour, rather than image layered over another image. To get this effect I changed the adjustments settings in Lumetri colour to purple/blue colours in the shadow tint and highlight tint colour wheels. The majority of my colour effects were done using these settings.
As seen in this shot to the left, similar to before, to achieve this look, layered a duplicate of the original shot over the other, decreased the opacity of this image while changing the positioning of it so it was further to the right of the screen. To achieve the blue look, I changed the colour of the footage of the shadow and highlight tint, to the settings seen below.

To make it as accurate as possible, and make it clear to the audience, i incorporated a 'REW<<' title/adjustment layer to both make it clear to the audience this was a rewind piece of footage, and again to give an authentic VHS effect. I chose a font that was an obvious font that would be seen in VHS tapes, and audiences will be able to recognise this font.
To create the sped up footage effect, I first reversed the footage, and then altered the speed in which the footage moves at, as seen in the percentages seen in the video clips which get faster, which I done by creating a speed curve.

Special effects
Within my music video, there is a heavy use of special effects, with glitches being used, colour tinting using the highlight and shadow tint setting and the Lumetri Colour. All of the glitch effects were achieved by layering the same image over each other, and making variations to each version of the footage, such as changing its position in the video effects section. As seen in this shot, i duplicated the same video clip on top of the other, decreased the opacity of the top image, and changed the tint of the top image to a red colour, while changing the position of the image to be higher up on the screen, and more to the left. To create the glitch and blackout effect, I used the razor tool to make lots of cuts in the footage in which I removed certain bits of small footage, to make it look like the footage was inconsistent and glitching.
Reverse footage
To create the rewind footage effect, this was the final timeline I had for the footage. I decided to create this part of the music video in a separate file, as i wanted to be free to experiment with the effect and the footage without risking overloading the music video file. It also made it easier to alter smaller sections without having to open up the entire file. The video consists of three adjustment layers with different video effects added onto them to create the VHS rewind effect.
To create the the wave rewind effect, on the adjustment layers I added a Wave Warp effect in which i added smooth noise to the footage so that there would be the flicker on the screen. I wanted this rewind effect to be as accurate as possible in being an intertextual link to 80s home videos. I experimented with different wave heights, widths and speed to create the most authentic look.
I also experimented with the amount of noise in the footage to create an image that was clear enough to see, and was an accurate representation of the old grainy TVs seen in the 80s.

End credits
For the end credit sequence, this was the timeline I created for this sequence, which was created three times for each of the actors and my credit, which were all then saved and combined into one final video, which was edited further and put into the final music video. To create the 80s end credit effect, I created three line shapes that came in together to create a triangle using key frames to control the movement.
To create the glow and colour effect, I used the lighting settings to make changes to the glow of the shapes, by using the spotlight setting, and altering the angle, center of the effect and radius in order to create the prefect glow. Then to create the vintage effect i used to gaussian blur video effect to create a horizontal blur.
To create the lighting effect seen in the image on the right, i used the lightning video effect, and used key frames to map the movements of the lightning to create the final look seen in the video.
